Black Male Initiative’s Restoration and Representation Summit is a transformative exposition that brings awareness to prison conditions, the collateral consequences for returning citizens and how restorative practices benefit every member of society. This summit introduces restorative practices that focus on repairing harm to communities and individuals, while emphasizing a person first approach to criminal justice. April is designated as Reentry Awareness-Second Chance Month, and BMI is dedicated to empowering our communities through direct action, advocacy, and grassroots organizing. This summit will be composed of elected officials, criminal justice stakeholders, formerly incarcerated people, restorative practitioners and survivors of crime to create new and effective approaches to criminal justice in the Peach state. Independent of any system of “justice,” Restorative is a social movement and philosophy that has deep historical roots.
